Drakes Bay Real Estate

Property 2 - Dona Amadas

Features:
  • One of the most spectacular ocean and bay view sites on this exquisite coastline.
  • 2 bedroom, livable, rustic cabin with electricity, kitchen, hot water shower, and flush toilet.
  • Almost 20 acres of primary and secondary forest.
  • Year-round stream.
  • Abundant wildlife.
  • Approximately 15’x15’ secure cement storage building.
  • Numerous fruit trees.

Included in this property is the Maritime Zone that extends to a small beach directly below the property that we use to swim and launch a small boat. The property for sale is comprised of 2 independent properties that share a common boundary. The properties are registered separately and are being sold together. One is 4+ acres with the cabin. The other is approximately 15 acres, with the view site, stream, and mango orchard. You could sell one or the other in the future, without doing a property split, since they are already independent of each other.

There is no motor vehicle access to the property. All of the resorts on this exquisite coastline bring their guests and supplies in by boat. The closest resorts are COPA DE ARBOL https://www.copadearbol.com  OR CALETAS LODGE https://www.caletaslodgedrake.com/ a 20-minute walk south on the public coastal trail, and La Paloma Lodge,(http://www.lapalomalodge.com) a 20-minute walk north on the public coastal trail. The village of Aguajitas, to get supplies, is a 1-hour walk north on the public coastal trail.

The property is currently lived on and cared for by a retired American and his Costa Rican wife. A well-designed water system brings filtered water from the stream to a large holding tank, supplying unlimited water to the buildings and landscape.

There are cashew trees, coconut, citrus, banana, plantain, and a small mango orchard, as well as native jungle fruit trees. The small ship, National Geographic Quest, anchors offshore for a night and explores a beach and jungle on this coast with their naturalists and guests for the day on their way to Panama.

The property could support an elegant Eco resort or house. Check out the neighbor’s house that adjoins this property that La Paloma Lodge manages renting to their guests as a luxury beach house. (http://www.lapalomalodge.com/) The property could also support numerous simple platform and tent sites for visitors and guests. One cement platform is already built on the property.

Feeling adventurous? All of the animals in Corcovado National Park (a three hour walk south on the public coastal trail) are on this property at some time. If you are wild for nature you will be awed by the beauty, depth and strength here. This place is alive! All of the animal photos and all of the bay view photos were taken on this property.
